Institutional Venture Partners Invests in Coinbase's $100 Million Series D

Palo Alto – August 17, 2017 – Cooley advised Institutional Venture Partners on its investment in Coinbase’s $100 million Series D funding, which brings the company’s total capital raised to $1.6 billion.

According to Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong, this funding “represents a major milestone for [their] mission to create an open financial system for the world.” Since its founding in 2012, Coinbase has grown to become one of the world’s leading digital currency companies with support for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin in 32 countries.

With $5.4 billion of committed capital, IVP is one of the premier later-stage venture capital and growth equity firms in the US. Founded in 1980, IVP has invested in over 300 companies, 106 of which have gone public.
