Wheeler Expected to Leave FCC Shortly Before Trump Takes Office

"Chairman Tom Wheeler is widely expected to leave the FCC next month, before President-elect Donald Trump takes office. If Wheeler follows recent precedent, he will announce his departure a week or so before Trump moves into the White House and clear the way for a Republican-dominated FCC, with Republicans Ajit Pai and Mike O'Rielly and Democrat Mignon Clyburn. Wheeler could stay on and keep Republicans from having a majority, at least until new members are confirmed. That would be an unusual move and only a temporary victory, with Republicans inevitably taking over."
