Los Angeles – June 23, 2016 – Cooley advised Within, formerly known as Vrse, on its $12.56 million Series A funding round, which was led by Andreessen Horowitz and included 21st Century Fox, Raine Ventures, William Morris Entertainment, Live Nation, Vice Media, Tribeca Enterprises, Annapurna Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Freelands Ventures.
Founded by leading virtual reality pioneer Chris Milk, Within is a virtual reality company whose mission is to tell extraordinary stories. Within uses custom-built tools and its own VR app to create and distribute the most innovative, story-driven experiences in VR.
Within has launched apps on the HTC Vice and Oculus Rift headsets and previously launched apps for iOS, Android and Samsung's Gear VR; it also publishes videos on its website and through partner apps and sites. Within COO Drew Larner told the LA Times that the goal for Within is to become the HBO GO app for VR.
The team advising Within was led by Dave Young and included Gary Marshall and Matt Beaudoin.
