Fortune Names Cooley a "Best Workplace for Women"

September 30, 2015

Palo Alto – September 30, 2015 – Cooley has been named a "Best Workplace for Women" by Fortune magazine, ranking #36 out of 100 companies. Cooley is the highest-ranking law firm on the list.

The 100 Best Workplaces for Women is a "best of the best" ranking, according to The Great Place to Work Institute. The winners come from a universe of approximately 650 companies with published Great Place to Work® Reviews, indicating they are serious about creating a great workplace and comfortable with transparency.

The Great Place to Work Institute surveyed 135,689 women at 637 companies, asking them to respond to a detailed questionnaire considering everything from the fairness of their company's promotions, to who has access to information and leadership, the level of support for employees' personal lives, and the degree of inclusiveness and connection they feel with colleagues. Women answered 58 questions in total, including an overall assessment of whether the company is a great place to work.

"We put a great deal of time and effort into promoting and growing our Women's Initiative, so it's wonderful to be recognized by such a highly regarded publication," said Shira Nadich Levin, a partner in Cooley's New York office and chair of the firm's Women's Initiative

In March 2015, Cooley was named to Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list for the second consecutive year. Cooley rose to #42 and was one of only five law firms named to the prestigious list. In June 2015, Cooley was named a "Best Workplace for Millennials." One of only two law firms on the publication's inaugural list, Cooley ranked #39 out of 100.
