Palo Alto – July 10, 2014 – Cooley LLP announced today that it has been named a "California Powerhouse" by Law360. The list recognizes 20 firms that have a "sizeable presence in the Golden State and [have made] significant regional accomplishments over the last two years."

In announcing its list, Law360 notes that "California's legal market is characterized by information technology work in the San Francisco area, entertainment in Los Angeles and life sciences in San Diego . . . the state's legal market is remarkably diverse."

Cooley's inclusion on the California Powerhouse list is due in no small part to its success in the very same Golden State markets highlighted by Law360. Cooley's roots are in San Francisco and its first office outside the City was established in Palo Alto in 1980. That office today is the firm's largest with more than 170 attorneys and between its two Bay Area offices Cooley is home to more than 250 lawyers. Cooley's San Diego office, which  has grown to almost 100 attorneys since its founding in 1992, is the leading law firm in  that market representing some of the most innovative technology and life sciences companies in the country, if not the world. Cooley's newest office in Santa Monica has grown to 22 lawyers and quickly established itself as the go to technology firm in the greater Los Angeles area. Overall, about half of Cooley's attorneys are based in the firm's four in California offices.
