Cooley Named to "100 Best Companies" List by Working Mother
New York – September 17, 2013 – Cooley LLP announced today that it has been named one of the year's "100 Best Companies" by Working Mother magazine. The publication selects the top 100 companies in the US that have consistently demonstrated their commitment to progressive workplace programs such as child care, flexibility, advancement and paid family leave.
In honor of the 100 Best Companies, Working Mother has declared October 15th as the first annual National Flex Day to encourage support for workplace flexibility.
"It's humbling and very reinforcing to be recognized as a ‘Best Company' for our commitment to creating a workplace that is inclusive and forward leaning," said Shira Nadich Levin, a real estate partner in Cooley's New York office and chair of the firm's Women's Initiative.
In August, Cooley was also recognized as a "Best Law Firm for Women" by Working Mother & Flex–Time Lawyers. Also this year, Cooley received, for the second consecutive year, the Gold Standard Certification distinction from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for its achievements in the promotion and success of women attorneys. Only 42 law firms from across the United States were so recognized by the organization.
Cooley's Women's Initiative is built upon the foundation of core career development on which women attorneys throughout the firm can establish and refine the skills needed to grow and flourish professionally. As part of the program, women partners serve as career development counselors to women associates for the purpose of providing mentorship and professional guidance. As part of its broad commitment to the professional development of its women attorneys, Cooley hosts, sponsors and participates in numerous women-focused leadership conferences and events, including the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF).
