Cooley Achieves Baseball Stadium Approval in Virginia

April 29, 2013

Reston, VA – April 29, 2013 – Cooley LLP announced today that it received approval from Loudoun County for One Loudoun Holdings' applications to develop the Loudoun County's first independent league baseball stadium.

On April 3, 2013, the Board of Supervisors of Loudoun County approved the applications required to relocate and construct the stadium at One Loudoun. The 100,000 square foot venue will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 people and will be home to the Loudoun Hounds baseball team, as well as the newly formed Virginia Cavalry FC soccer team. The stadium will anchor the One Loudoun development, a 3.7 million square foot, vertically integrated, mixed-use town center for which Cooley originally received approval in 2007.

The Cooley Land Use & Zoning team representing One Loudoun Holdings was led by Real Estate partner Colleen Gillis Snow, and included Land Use Planners Molly Novotny and Kate Humphrey.

"We are thrilled that the applications received the support of the Board," said Reston-based Real Estate partner Colleen Gillis Snow. "Along with countless other proponents of the project, we're confident that the stadium will be an asset to One Loudoun and the residents, employees and children of the greater Loudoun County community for many, many years."

The privately funded project is expected to open in time for the 2014 season, and is projected to bring approximately 40 to 50 full-time jobs and 200 part-time jobs to Loudoun, according to an article in the Washington Post.

Cooley's Real Estate and Land Use & Zoning teams recently took home "Top Law Firm" at the GWCAR Best in Industry Awards.
