Three Cooley Partners Named to The Daily Journal's Top 100 Lawyers List

September 13, 2012

Palo Alto, Calif. – September 13, 2012 – Cooley LLP announced today that three partners have been named to The Daily Journal's Top 100 Lawyers list.  Craig Dauchy, chair of the firm's Venture Capital practice; Kenn Guernsey, a partner in the Business department; and Mike Rhodes, chair of Cooley's Litigation department, were selected.  This is the fifteenth year The Daily Journal has published the list.

Craig Dauchy, based in Palo Alto, specializes in representing venture capital and private equity partnerships and emerging companies. He has participated in the formation of more than 200 venture capital and private equity funds and in hundreds of venture capital financings. Dauchy recently helped Menlo Park-based Institutional Venture Partners close its first $1 billion fund.  He also assisted Lightspeed Venture Partners in the recent closing of its ninth fund, which raised $675 million.  Dauchy, who was the 35th attorney at Cooley, joining in 1975, has been integral to the firm's recent office opening in Shanghai.

Kenn Guernsey, based in San Francisco, has a practice that is focused on the representation of public and private companies, investment banks and venture capital investors. Guernsey's transactional expertise includes initial and follow-on public offerings, PIPE financings, private placements, merger and acquisition transactions and complex strategic alliances, recently advising Peet's Coffee & Tea in its $1 billion sale.  Guernsey worked on some of the most talked about tech IPOs of 2011 including Yelp and Zynga, a pipeline that, he tells The Daily Journal, "is as long as it's ever been."

Mike Rhodes serves as the national chair of the firm's Litigation department and is based in San Francisco and San Diego.  Rhodes represents technology and Internet companies in intellectual property matters for clients such as eBay, PayPal, StubHub, Facebook, Google, NVIDIA and LinkedIn. He is co-chair of both the Internet practice and Privacy practice in addition to leading the firm's 300-lawyer Litigation department.  The Daily Journal highlighted Rhodes' work as one of the leaders in the privacy space.
