Partner Danish Hamid Joins Cooley in Washington, DC

January 31, 2012

Washington, DC – January 31, 2012 – Cooley LLP announced today that Danish Hamid has joined the firm as a partner in its Washington, DC office. Hamid has nearly 15 years' experience supporting a variety of Fortune 500 and other clients on international business transactions, compliance with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption laws, as well as internal investigations. His arrival further strengthens Cooley's 130-lawyer Mid-Atlantic presence, which has been expanding in fields such as health care, e-health regulatory and International Trade Commission (ITC) work.

"We are pleased to welcome Danish to the firm," said Joe Conroy, Cooley's chief executive officer. "His arrival could not be more timely as Cooley increases its international focus to address our clients' increasing global business needs."

"I am excited to come on board and look forward to supporting Cooley's efforts to service clients on U.S. domestic and cross-border matters," Hamid said. "My corporate transactions, compliance and investigation practices fit very well with Cooley's growing international focus. I intend to collaborate with partners in all of Cooley's offices, including the newest office in Shanghai, as well as with the firm's white collar and government contracts teams."

Prior to joining Cooley, Hamid was a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP. Hamid graduated from the University of Oxford in 1997 with a B.A. (honors) in Jurisprudence (an English law degree). He received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 2000, where he was a member of The George Washington International Law Review. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and in New York.

Cooley's presence in the mid-Atlantic now includes 130 attorneys based in Washington, DC and Reston, Va. Last year, key partner additions included former senior ITC attorney Stephen Smith and Drew Gantt, who was recently recognized as one of the top 10 outstanding health care IT lawyers by Nightingale's Healthcare News.
