Cooley White Collar Chair William Schwartz Named Litigator of the Week

January 17, 2012

New York - January 17, 2012 - The American Lawyer named Cooley partner William Schwartz its national "Litigator of the Week" last week. The honor followed the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit's decision overturning the criminal conviction of Cooley client Joseph Collins, a former partner of the Mayer Brown law firm.

Collins, who acted as outside counsel to Refco, was accused of involvement in the multi-billion-dollar fraud that brought down that brokerage house. His trial and appeal were handled by Schwartz and New York-based litigation department vice chair Jonathan Bach. Schwartz serves as national chair of the firm's White Collar and Regulatory Defense practice.
