Cooley Plays Key Role in Award-Winning Manchester Hotel Transaction
San Diego, Calif. – January 27, 2012 – The American Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) announced this week the 2011 ALIS Deal of the Year Awards, recognizing the top hotel industry deals in the nation. Besting finalists from Chicago and Boston, the Single Asset Transaction of the Year was awarded to Manchester Financial Group and Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. for Manchester Financial Group's disposition of the Manchester Grand Hyatt to Host Hotels for $570 million. Cooley LLP's national Real Estate practice group represented Manchester Financial Group in the transaction.
This transaction was the largest domestic hotel transaction in 2011 as cited in Hotel Management Magazine's August 2011 issue. The 1625 room Manchester Grand Hyatt is the West Coast's largest waterfront hotel and the second largest hotel in California. The Cooley team was led by partner Michael Levinson and included partner Samantha LaPine and associate Bobby Doherty.
