Honoring Our Veterans and Sharing Their Impact

Cooley invited our valued clients and partners to a special one-hour program in honor of Veterans Day – a conversation with American patriot and hero, Colonel John Fer, US Air Force (ret.). With this event, we payed special tribute to the incredible veteran leaders we are privileged to work with every day who now serve as entrepreneurs, chief experience officers, investors, innovators and trailblazers in business.

We were grateful to welcome Fer, who shared his personal experience serving in the Vietnam War, where he was shot down while flying his 54th mission and spent more than six years as a prisoner of war alongside cellmate Capt. John McCain, US Navy (ret.) and former US senator. These stories and others are outlined in Fer’s recently published book, “Trampling the Serpent: Vietnam POW: Revealing True Character.”

Fer inspired us with battle-tested insights, combat stories and lessons learned during active duty as a parallel for leadership, building true character and persevering through the greatest adversities.

With 2023 marking the 50th anniversary of all prisoners of war – and Fer’s – return home to the US, this was a powerful and motivating conversation.

Viewing Opportunities

We were excited to offer the opportunity for those in the DC area to attend this conversation in person at our Cooley Reston office. A copy of Fer’s book was available to all attendees in Reston. The Reston event began at 11:30 am EST to allow time for networking and conversation ahead of the keynote, and lunch was provided.
