Event summary

Cooley U is back in session!

Over the coming months, Cooley U is offering free and interactive sessions to help and empower first-time board members and entrepreneurs as they build their businesses. This program is designed for the first-time entrepreneur or board member who would like to become more knowledgeable about both the legal and practical issues related to building a business.

Session 4: Intellectual Property Basics

Will we receive a cease and desist letter or face a lawsuit if we do this? Will we have to redesign our product? Will we have to change our name? Will we have to pay more later to address a problem than if we were proactive? Can we obtain exclusive rights? Can we use IP to create value for investors, acquirers or other stakeholders? How do I best prioritize limited resources and get the best return on my IP investments? We’ll go over these questions and more.

Topics include

An overview of IP rights (patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, right of publicity); common IP pitfalls entrepreneurs should watch out for; what investors, acquirers and underwriters look for in an IP portfolio; and tips on working efficiently and effectively with law firms.

This is an invitation-only event, and there is no charge to attend. If interested, you can request an invitation here.
