WEBINAR Antitrust Enforcement in the Time of COVID-19: What You Need to Know

April 23, 2020
Event details
April 23, 2020
1:00 – 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time

Event summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended antitrust enforcement as it has everybody’s lives. Like others, competition authorities in the US and around the world are working from home.  Still, they have made clear that they will not hesitate to take enforcement action against companies that violate antitrust laws.

Companies need to be prepared to face the challenges raised by antitrust enforcement during the pandemic, including navigating mergers and acquisitions through regulatory approvals and the use of pricing algorithms that might lead to price gouging.  The pandemic also presents opportunities, from creating joint ventures to solve issues raised by the coronavirus to coordinating with competitors to efficiently source limited supplies, that may be viewed with more flexibility under antitrust law than before the crisis.

To help navigate antitrust issues during these times, Megan Browdie and Howard Morse will discuss enforcement updates and provide practical guidance on the following topics:

Topics include

  • Merger review in the US and worldwide
  • Competitor collaborations, both targeting solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic and more generally
  • Challenges to price gouging, price fixing and bid rigging, including through on line platforms
