Athena On Board Program Workshop Series - Workshop 1: Laying the Groundwork & Mentor Matching
Event summary
Athena is excited to relaunch its On Boards Program Series to help position executive women in STEM to land a board seat. As California public companies seek to comply with California’s legislative mandate to have at least one woman on their board of directors by 2019, Athena’s On Boards program aims to strategically empower more women seeking board placement.
Workshop 1 will address fiduciary and other compliance responsibilities to consider before joining a board. Additionally, each executive will participate in a Mentor-Match workshop where you’ll be assigned a mentoring group to provide structured guidance and accountability in your boardroom journey. Athena’s dedicated mentors are executives from the San Diego business community with experience serving on public and private boards.
Topics will include:
• Diversity on boards
• Director liability landscape
• D&O Insurance
• Indemnification agreements
• Risks for public, private and non-profits
• Director compensation
Speakers:
• Karen Anderson – Partner, Cooley
• Megan Arthur Schilling – Partner, Cooley
• Jessica Valenzuela Santamaria – Partner, Cooley
