Steven focuses on patent prosecution in chemistry and life sciences technologies. He has a broad research background spanning multiple areas of chemistry and biology.
Before joining Cooley, Steven was a National Institutes of Health National Research Service Award postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, where he worked on developing small-molecule male contraceptive drugs and investigating the biological mechanism underlying sperm maturation. For his doctoral work at Northwestern University, Steven synthesized small-molecule and polymeric organic semiconductors and evaluated their performance in thin-film photovoltaic devices. Steven also has experience in natural product total synthesis through his master’s research at Yale University and as an undergraduate researcher at Western Washington University.
