About Steve

Steve joined Cooley’s business development team in 2025, bringing the Cooley enterprise to market in the Southeast US and Texas. Steve is a nationally recognized leader, with experience working alongside entrepreneurs and venture capital investors in the tech, media and telecommunications, and life sciences industries. He is known as a serial builder of communities and networks that advance entrepreneurs and their innovative endeavors.

Before joining Cooley, Steve spent 34 years serving clients as a partner and managing director at public accounting and consulting firms. In professional service firms such as Argy, Wiltse & Robinson (now BDO USA), Deloitte, and MorganFranklin Consulting (now Highspring), Steve started and built practices focused on serving clients in the innovation economy.

Steve has served as an auditor and consultant to clients ranging from pre-revenue startups to companies with $1 billion+ in revenue. He has advised entrepreneurs and CEOs on corporate growth strategies and all matters of operational development. Steve also has extensive transactional experience, including with venture capital and private equity fundraisers, buy- and sell-side M&A, and initial public offerings. He routinely coaches CEOs and chief financial officers on eliciting excellence from themselves and their teams. 

Steve is the treasurer and on the executive committee of Mindshare, a not-for-profit organization that provides a one-year training program for first-time CEOs of disruptive product companies. A graduate of Marquette University, Steve is a certified public accountant, licensed in Maryland and Virginia.
