John Bostic Inducted Into American College of Trial Lawyers

October 13, 2025

Palo Alto – October 13, 2025 – Cooley partner John Bostic was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) during the organization’s national meeting on October 11.

Founded in 1950, the ACTL is widely considered the premier professional trial organization in North America. Its membership comprises the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation only – and only after careful investigation – to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years’ trial experience before they can be considered for fellowship.

Bostic’s practice at Cooley focuses on white collar defense, internal investigations, and high-stakes civil litigation and trials. Before joining Cooley, Bostic served for nearly a decade with the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, where he tried some of the office’s most significant cases – including the case against Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes and Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Balwani. Bostic earned his JD from Stanford Law School and clerked for US District Judge Marilyn L. Huff of the US District Court for the Southern District of California.

Other Cooley ACTL fellows include partner Michael Attanasio, senior counsel Alan Levine and chairman emeritus Stephen Neal.
