On November 16, 2023, Adam Dinow, Cooley partner and head of the firm’s New York corporate practice, was a featured speaker on Axios’ Dealmakers: A Conversation on What’s Next for VC virtual event. During the “View From the Top” segment, Dinow spoke with Fabricio Drumond, chief business officer at Axios, about venture capital trends heading into the first quarter of 2024. He discussed the challenges companies faced in 2023, including slowed growth and valuation pressures. Despite these and other hurdles, some companies successfully navigated the landscape through strong performance and product development. Dinow highlighted a growing trend of companies staying private longer, prompting the question: What are investors looking for today? Regarding 2024 initial public offerings, Dinow underlined their dependence on various factors, such as interest rates, the uncertainty of the global climate and the upcoming US presidential election, underscoring the need for more clarity to better predict the future.
