Celebrating One Year in Chicago, Cooley Debuts State-of-the-Art Office Space

April 18, 2022

Chicago – April 18, 2022 – Cooley has moved to 110 North Wacker in Chicago, opening the doors on 30,000 square feet of new, state-of-the-art, forward-thinking space featuring high-end amenities and technology to promote collaboration, flexibility, wellness and first-in-class client service. In the year since Cooley entered the Chicago market, the office has experienced tremendous growth and success for a range of clients, from innovative startups to well-established companies and leading financial institutions.

Cooley occupies space on the 42nd floor of 110 North Wacker, which is the city’s tallest office building in three decades. The building is infused with five-star amenities, including a full-service wellness center, dining and event space. Consistent with the ethos behind Cooley’s reimagined office spaces, which debuted in New York City’s Hudson Yards, the new Chicago office is designed with adaptability, future generations, collaboration, teamwork and visitor experience in mind – and is highly differentiated from other law offices in Chicago.

“This is an important milestone in our journey to becoming a destination law firm for companies operating in Chicago and the Midwest – one of the world’s largest and most diversified economies,” said Rick Ginsberg, co-founder and partner in charge of Cooley’s Chicago office. “We continue to attract top talent as we build out our fast-growing, full-service Chicago office, developing new and greater regional capabilities within our global corporate and litigation departments.”

Cooley’s Chicago office launched in May 2021 with 10 preeminent lawyers, including nine laterals from three major law firms and Yvan-Claude Pierre, an existing Cooley partner in New York and Chicago, and has since expanded to a team of approximately 50 lawyers spanning business litigation, capital markets, cyber/data/privacy, emerging companies and venture capital, employment and benefits, fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, white collar defense and investigations, and other practice groups. The firm’s high-profile hires in Chicago since the initial launch include Neal Aizenstein, Bobby Earles, Lindsay Jenkins, Josh Kotin, Matthew Kutcher and Lei Shen. In late 2021, Cooley elected 28 new lawyers to the firm’s partnership, including Rachel Goddard and Winston Gu in Chicago.
