April 17, 2019

New York –  April 17, 2019 – Cooley has moved to 55 Hudson Yards in New York, proudly at the heart of the largest private real estate development in US history and the biggest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center. Cooley’s workforce and clients will enjoy flagship, state-of-the-art office space among many of the biggest names in business and tech. More than 250 employees will occupy 130,000 square feet across five floors near the top of the building.

“There’s been a real shift of energy to this side of New York,” said Joe Conroy, Cooley’s chief executive officer. “Being at the forefront of this visionary development at Hudson Yards reinforces our commitment to being forward thinking, innovative leaders. This phenomenal space is a testament to our culture, our creativity and our people. In 55 Hudson Yards, we have created something powerful and new for the future of elite law firm workspaces.”

“The space has been meticulously designed to enable both collaborative and private work spaces, enabled by amazing technology and with great amenities and a focus on wellness and health,” added Kathy Pakenham, partner in charge of Cooley’s New York office. “For our clients, these next-generation features combine for a truly special experience of visiting and meeting in this space.”

The Hudson Yards site includes more than 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, state-of-the-art office towers and more than 100 shops and a collection of restaurants. The development also includes approximately 4,000 residences, The Shed – a new center for artistic invention – 14 acres of public open space, a 750-seat public school and an Equinox-branded luxury hotel.

“This has been a ground-breaking journey with Cooley to envision the future of the legal workplace,” said Phil Olson, principal of Alliance Architecture. “Our creative effort has focused on a transformative environment for both employees and visitors that embraces the widest range of lawyer workstyles and alters the perception of how a law firm should look and feel. The result is a bold, progressive and entirely Cooley experience.”

Multiple national and regional publications consistently recognize Cooley as a great place to work, including Crain’s New York Business, which has recognized the New York office as a Best Place to Work for four consecutive years. Additionally, Fortune recently included Cooley for the sixth year in a row on its 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
