World View Closes Series C to Reach Edge of Space

Company developing high-altitude balloons to make long flights over Earth

Palo Alto – June 12, 2018 – Cooley advised World View on its $26.5 million Series C funding round led by Accel. The round brings the company’s total valuation to more than $84 million. Partner Mehdi Khodadad led the Cooley team advising World View.

According to World View, the funding will accelerate the development and commercialization of its Stratollite vehicle, which offers low-cost, navigable and persistent high-altitude flight over customer specified areas of interest for long duration missions. The round also included participation by existing investors Canaan Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.

“We’re thrilled to partner with such accomplished Silicon Valley venture firms to execute on World View’s bold vision to pioneer a new economy in the stratosphere,” said Jane Poynter, World View co-founder and CEO, in a news release.

World View’s innovative flight technologies offer a unique perspective of Earth from the edge of space. The company delivers meaningful insights to enterprises, agencies and individuals via two primary business segments: Stratollite un-crewed flight systems and Voyager human spaceflight systems.

Cooley serves as corporate counsel to World View and previously advised on its Series B funding round
