YWCA to Honor Monique Sherman at Tribute to Women Awards

March 14, 2017

Palo Alto – March 14, 2016 – YWCA Silicon Valley announced that Cooley pro bono counsel Monique Sherman will be honored at its 33rd annual Tribute to Women Awards in May. The event honors 37 women who exemplify and reflect the innovation, creativity and excellence for which Silicon Valley is known.

Sherman helps maintain and develop Cooley's pro bono resources to ensure the firm’s lawyers have the necessary tools to effectively represent their clients. She provides technical assistance to lawyers throughout the firm on pro bono matters, in addition to serving on the team for a number of pro bono matters herself. She also assists in the development and administration of Cooley's pro bono practice.

“Monique plays a fundamental role in the quality and success of Cooley’s pro bono practice,” said Maureen Alger, Cooley pro bono partner and previous YWCA Tribute to Women honoree. “Her personal contributions to ensuring access to justice are highly commendable. This recognition is very well deserved.”

In addition to Alger, Cooley partners Shannon Eagan, Danielle Naftulin and Jessica Valenzuela Santamaria have been recognized at previous Tribute to Women Awards ceremonies.

YWCA is on a mission to empower by working to end racism and violence, to achieve solutions for survivors of violence facing homelessness and to inspire by closing the education and prosperity gap. For more than 110 years, YWCA Silicon Valley has identified the unique needs of Santa Clara County women, delivering innovative programs to meet those needs.
