Cooley Sponsors International Women’s Day Event in London

March 8, 2017

London – March 8, 2017 – In celebration of International Women’s Day, Cooley is co-sponsoring a Women in Law London (WILL) event featuring the Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss MP, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice. Joining the Lord Chancellor in conversation will be Funke Abimbola, WILL advisory panelist and general counsel for Roche.

The Lord Chancellor is working closely with the legal industry to break down barriers and improve the promotion of talent across the board, from law firms to Supreme Court judges.

WILL, which was co-founded by Cooley litigation associate Sascha Grimm, is London’s first legal network for pre-partnership level women solicitors, both in private practice and in-house. WILL conducts research and organises events and networking opportunities for its members.

High-profile publications regularly recognize Cooley for its ongoing commitment to supporting the advancement of women lawyers. In 2016, Fortune magazine named Cooley a Best Workplace for Women, Parents and Flexibility; Working Mother magazine named Cooley a Best Law Firm for Women; and Cooley was awarded Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum. Joe Conroy, Cooley’s chief executive officer, recently explained his personal and leadership commitment to diversity in a WILEF Tribune Q&A.
