Nicola Maguire Joins The Lawyer's Elite Hot 100 for 2016

London – January 29, 2016 – The Lawyer has recognised Nicola Maguire, partner in Cooley's life sciences practice, as one of its Hot 100 lawyers. Maguire was singled out for her work advising Immunocore on its pivotal $320 million Series A round – the largest ever Series A for a European biotech company and the second largest in the world.

Maguire moved to Cooley from Reed Smith in 2015, launching the firm's UK life sciences practice with fellow partner John Wilkinson. Her practice specialises in advising life sciences companies and other clients that have a significant reliance on intellectual property. Many of the transactions on which she works have a significant international element.

Recently, Maguire advised Imperial Innovations, Cambridge Enterprise and UCL Business on their groundbreaking joint venture to set up the Apollo Therapeutics Fund in collaboration with AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson & Johnson. The aim of the Apollo Therapeutics Fund is to advance academic preclinical research to a stage at which it can either be taken forward by one of the industry partners following an internal bidding process or be out-licensed.
