WILEF Recognizes Cooley with 2015 Gold Standard Certification
Palo Alto – June 23, 2015 – For the fourth consecutive year, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum ("WILEF") recognized Cooley with Gold Standard Certification. The Gold Standard is WILEF's highest level of recognition for commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry. Cooley was one of 44 firms to receive this distinction from WILEF in 2015.
WILEF emphasizes the leadership roles achieved by female equity law partners. To receive Gold Standard Certification, a firm must demonstrate that "women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners."
"It's wonderful to be awarded with this prestigious certification year after year," said Shira Nadich Levin, a partner in Cooley's New York office and chair of the firm's Women's Initiative. "Cooley is proud of its commitment to promoting women in the legal arena, and we are committed to further move the needle on this important issue."
Cooley places great importance on the retention and development of women lawyers. The firm's Women's Initiative was created in 2010 as part of Cooley's core diversity principles to attract, retain and mentor a strong network of women attorneys. The initiative seeks to provide women at Cooley with the tools necessary to achieve professional success and personal fulfillment, including career counseling, professional development and networking opportunities.
