Multichannel News Names Kevin Mills a Top Deal Attorney in Cable TV

Washington, DC– April 20, 2014 – Washington, DC-based corporate partner Kevin Mills was one of nine lawyers in the United States recognized as a top attorney in the cable TV industry in a Multichannel News special report: "Counselors Who Seal the Deals in Cable."

The publication highlighted Mills' most notable cable deals, including his current representation of the future management team of GreatLand Connections, a new cable operator to be spun off from Comcast systems coinciding with the Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger. Mills previously represented Insight Communications as outside counsel for 15 years, starting with the initial formation of the partnership with Tele-Communications Inc. in 1998. He also worked on Insight's Carlyle Group-sponsored going private transaction in 2005; the 2007 split of its partnership with TCI successor Comcast; and its eventual $3.0 billion sale to Time Warner Cable in 2012.

Mills, who has nearly 20 years of experience in the media and communications industries, worked on joint ventures and system roll-ups for cable operators including Falcon Cable and FrontierVision, and eventually the 1999 sales of those companies to Charter and Adelphia. In 2014, Mills represented Hasbro in amending its relationship with Discovery Communications for the companies' joint venture that operated the Discovery Family Channel (formerly The Hub). Mills advised Hasbro in forming The Hub in 2009. He worked on the team that represented Oprah Winfrey in connection with the creation of her OWN joint venture with Discovery. Mills also advised a Major League Baseball franchise during the negotiation of its media rights and also counseled groups bidding for MLB franchises and regional sports network interests.

Mills advises major media companies, private equity firms and entrepreneurs in the cable, broadband, broadcast, print, entertainment, telecom, technology, online, advertising and sports-related sectors. He has negotiated and closed numerous corporate buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and strategic partnerships. He also negotiates commercial and media contracts and advises clients on other general corporate and business matters.
