Cooley Garners Financial Times Commendation for Innovation in the Business of Law

December 5, 2014

Cooley GO singled out for delivering innovation in the tech and startup space

Palo Alto – December 5, 2014 – In its annual report on the most "innovative lawyers" in the United States, the Financial Times chose Cooley as one of its top-five "highly commended" firms in the Business of Law category. The Financial Times highlights Cooley's "interactive website for entrepreneurs [Cooley GO] that allows them to access the firm's expertise." This is the third consecutive year that Cooley has been featured in the FT's special report.

FT specifically notes that, "Cooley has thought about the further needs of its particular clients: the documents in question include how to develop a privacy policy, for example, while targeted tutorials include how to allocate stock to founders." The report also notes the innovative methods Cooley used to introduce Cooley GO. "Cooley has also eschewed traditional marketing to focus on social media and blogs to promote its site." Indeed, on launch day, Cooley GO generated more than 15,000 page views with visitors from 36 different countries, reaching approximately 2.7 million followers. Within the 10 days following the launch of the site, more than 30,000 people from 73 different countries viewed Cooley GO.

FT's recognition was not the first for Cooley GO. In October, The Recorder also commended Cooley GO and its three partner curators – Craig Jacoby, Matt Bartus and Peter Werner – honoring them with an "Innovators Award."

Cooley GO, which launched on July 1, 2014, is a free, online resource center for entrepreneurs whose businesses are at varying stages of the growth cycle. The site provides entrepreneurs with comprehensive legal and business guidance, insights on current marketplace trends, and access to fundamental legal forms applicable to the establishment, growth and management of emerging and growth companies. In the four months since its launch, Cooley GO has had visitors from 121 different countries.
