Two Cooley Attorneys Named to Lawyers of Color's Inaugural "Hot List"

Washington, D.C. – July 2, 2013 – Cooley LLP announced today that partner Reuben Chen and associate Tanisha James were named to Lawyers of Color's inaugural "Hot List," which honors early-to mid-career minority attorneys under the age of 40 who are excelling in the legal profession. 

The "Hot List" honorees – Chen for Lawyers of Color's Western region list and James for the Mid-Atlantic region – were selected by a committee comprised of the editorial staff and advisers, as well as law school fellows and interns, who reviewed nominations and researched bar publications and legal blogs to identify promising candidates. Selections were also based on research that identified attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives.

Reuben Chen is a partner in Cooley's litigation department and is based in the firm's Palo Alto office. His practice focuses on technology and intellectual property litigation, specifically focusing on patent litigation. He has assisted clients in IP matters across a wide range of technologies, such as biotechnology, chemistry, electronics, emulation for integrated circuit designs, HDTV, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, Wavelength Selective Switches, and Web-based technologies.

Tanisha James is an associate in Cooley's antitrust practice group, based in the Washington, DC office. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, government and private antitrust litigation, as well as criminal antitrust and civil investigations. Ms. James also has experience in commercial litigation and securities law. The breadth of her experience encompasses a number of industries including pharmaceutical, food, oil and gas, media, sports and household products.
