Cooley Celebrates 20 Years in Colorado with Benefit Concert

September 5, 2013

Broomfield, Colo. – September 5, 2013 – Cooley LLP announced today that, in recognition of the 20th anniversary of its Colorado office, it has organized a benefit concert with proceeds benefitting the Entrepreneur's Foundation of Colorado (EFCO). On Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 7:00 pm, the Boulder Theater will play host to three acts, including bands that have ties to Boulder's thriving startup community.

"EFCO is honored to be the benefactor of Cooley's anniversary celebration," said Morgan Rogers-McMillan, Executive Director of EFCO. "Cooley is a founding partner of the Entrepreneurs Foundation. Over the years, we have been incredibly lucky to have Cooley partner Mike Platt serve on our board, and also benefit from the support of the wonderful Cooley team on our legal work."

Over the past couple of decades, the greater Boulder area has developed a reputation for its collegial sensibility, which has blossomed to create a smart, dedicated and motivated entrepreneurial community. EFCO is a network of entrepreneurs whose companies pledge a portion of founding equity or annual profits to the community.

"Cooley has played an important role in the development of the Colorado innovation ecosystem," said Jim Linfield, partner-in-charge of Cooley's Colorado office. "We try to give back to it whenever possible, be it through mentorship, donations or sponsorship of the many organizations that make a difference to startups. We think the Entrepreneurs' Prom is a great way to celebrate our two decades in Colorado, by thanking those who have supported us along the way while coming together to strengthen our community."

Back in 1993, Linfield helped open Cooley's Boulder office, making it the first Silicon Valley law firm to establish a presence in Colorado. The firm has been based in Broomfield since 2001. In that time, Cooley has become a leading technology law firm in Colorado and was recently honored as a "Top Workplace" by the Denver Post for the second year in a row.

About the Entrepreneurs' Prom

Dubbed the Entrepreneurs' Prom, the event will feature the music of Pro Leisure, Legitimate Front and PRINCESS. Both Pro Leisure and Legitimate Front are local Boulder bands that include entrepreneurs and investors. PRINCESS is comprised of a group of Washington, DC-based attorneys, two of whom are Cooley attorneys. Tickets are available at $16 through the Boulder Theater, and can be purchased here.
