Mass Lawyers Weekly Honors Cooley Partner Michael Sheetz for Pro Bono Achievements

May 14, 2012

Boston, Mass. — May 14, 2012 — Cooley LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Sheetz, a litigation partner in the firm's Boston office, has been honored by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly magazine for his outstanding services to Pro Bono causes in the region.  Sheetz serves as the Chair of the Anti-Defamation League's New England Regional Board.  He works with the ADL in the cause of promoting civil rights for all, and fighting hatred, bigotry and all forms of discrimination.

Sheetz leads a 100-person ADL Board of community and business leaders from five New England states.  He has played a key role in numerous ADL initiatives, including leading the coalition that won passage of Massachusetts' new anti-bullying law, testifying before the Legislature on civil rights legislation, and opening ADL's annual Youth Congress where 1,300 students from throughout New England came together in Boston to engage in ADL's signature prejudice awareness program, "A World of Difference."

"Mike's pro bono activity is a valued part of the firm's dedication to engaging with the communities in which we operate," noted Al Browne, partner in charge of Cooley's Boston office.  "We're all delighted that Mass Lawyers Weekly has honored him in this way."

The Mass Lawyers Weekly 2012 "Excellence in the Law" event honors the very best of the legal profession, and is presented in partnership with the Massachusetts Bar Association.  The dinner to celebrate the honorees was held on Thursday, May 10, 2012.
