Event details
April 18 – June 6, 2019
12:00 – 12:00 am Pacific Standard Time

Event summary

Cooley is launching a comprehensive effort to help clients meet the January 1, 2020 compliance deadline for the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA). Scroll down to register.

CCPA transformation
When it takes effect, the CCPA will have sweeping ramifications for businesses in California and across the globe. The impact of the law will range from updating privacy disclosures and consumer choices to modifying business models to comply with the CCPA’s limitations on sale and resale of personal information. The law broadly governs the collection, use and disclosure of information about California residents – consumers, employees, job applicants, students and other categories of individuals – as well as information about households and devices.

Cooley’s program
The effort will begin with Cooley's cyber/data/privacy group presenting general and industry-specific webcasts. Following the webcasts, c/d/p lawyers will work with clients individually to update their privacy practices to comply with the CCPA. To help ensure that our advice takes into account the CCPA’s robust regulatory and private enforcement provisions, our c/d/p team includes a former special assistant to California’s attorney general, who launched the AG’s privacy and security enforcement division, as well as the nation’s leading privacy litigators who have successfully defended prominent technology companies in numerous California privacy class actions.

The webcasts will answer questions such as:

  • Who is subject to the CCPA and what are the exemptions?
  • What does the CCPA require?
  • How can GDPR compliance help?
  • What is the effect of the expected enforcement climate?
  • How should organizations prioritize compliance work?
  • What does a typical compliance project look like?
  • What CCPA amendments are expected?
  • How can Cooley’s cyber/data/privacy group help?

In addition to registering for the webcasts, you can email the c/d/p group.

Webcast login information will be sent upon registration.
