Event summary

Cooley is proud to sponsor the American Bar Association’s 39th National Institute on White Collar Crime, where notable panelists from the corporate sector, the federal judiciary and government agencies shared insights into some of the most significant issues of our time. The faculty included some of the top members of the white collar bar in the US and abroad.

This in-person event was attended by federal and state judges and prosecutors, law enforcement officials, defense attorneys, corporate in-house counsel, and members of the academic community, as well as legal professionals just starting to concentrate in the white collar area.

As in previous years, the institute offered valuable updates on developments and strategies in white collar criminal law, along with opportunities to meet new colleagues, renew acquaintances and exchange ideas.

Crosshairs and Crossroads – Recent Trends in Criminal Antitrust Enforcement

Cooley partner Beatriz Mejia moderated a panel of federal and state antitrust enforcers and in-house counsels sharing insights on hot topics and recent developments in criminal antitrust law. Federal topics included the Department of Justice’s high-profile no-poach cases and trials, its recent criminal monopolization prosecutions, and its bid-rigging and price-fixing enforcement, including the Procurement Collusion Strike Force. State topics included current enforcement priorities and recent prosecutions and lawsuits. The panel also examined corporate compliance best practices given this backdrop of increased antitrust enforcement.
