Cooley lawyers Kathleen Hartnett, Katelyn Kang, Zoe Helstrom, Elizabeth Reinhardt and Mariah Young, alongside co-counsel from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), ACLU of West Virginia and Lambda Legal, earned a spot on The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs list for representing Becky Pepper-Jackson in B.P.J. v. West Virginia State Board of Education. The US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit determined that the West Virginia law barring transgender girls from playing on girls sports teams violated Title IX.
