John T. McKenna is a partner in the Cooley Business department and a member of the Securities Regulation practice group. He joined the Firm in 1996 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
Mr. McKenna practices corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on the representation of publicly-traded companies, the formation, financing and general representation of emerging growth companies, and the representation of investors and investment bankers involved with such companies. He has counseled public and private company clients in the full range of corporate and securities matters, including venture financing transactions, public offerings of equity and debt, employee incentive programs, mergers and acquisitions, strategic corporate relationships, SEC reporting and compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and corporate governance.
Mr. McKenna received a J.D., cum laude, from Boston University in 1996, where he served as an article editor on the Boston University Journal of Science and Technology Law. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a finance concentration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1989.
Prior to attending law school Mr. McKenna was with the Los Angeles and Palo Alto offices of Ernst & Young LLP.
Mr. McKenna is a member of the State Bar of California and is a former certified public accountant in the State of California.
