Michael Coburn’s practice is focused on advising insurtechs, fintechs, insurance and reinsurance companies, venture capital firms and other financial services companies on a broad range of regulatory and transactional matters. Michael has extensive experience in the insurtech space, including advising on the formation and licensing of startup insurtech companies, negotiating partnership agreements on behalf of insurtechs with insurance carriers, drafting innovative policies and providing general regulatory advice to insurtechs. He also advises a wide array of fintech companies on regulatory compliance and licensing matters, specializing in US state money transmission services regulation, the federal Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related anti-money laundering laws as well as the licensing and regulation of debt collection companies.
