New York – June 22, 2018 – The New York Law Journal has recognized Cooley litigation partner Joseph Drayton as one of its Distinguished Leaders of the year.
The award honors lawyers in leadership roles who have achieved impressive results over the past 12 months, emphasizing the importance of great performance and clear leadership skills delivering positive outcomes.
Drayton's practice includes a broad range of intellectual property and complex commercial matters. He is an experienced patent trial lawyer, trusted advisor and counselor focusing on electronic, computer, software, telecommunication and mechanical arts as well as e-commerce businesses. Drayton also heavily dedicates time to pro bono work, exercising his passion for justice. Last year, he led the Cooley team that collaborated with The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, among other groups, on a successful settlement with the Village of Mastic Beach over a lawsuit alleging discrimination in housing and constitutional violations based on race and ethnic background.
The National Bar Association recently elected Drayton as its 76th president, and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association recognized Drayton as its 2017 Private Practitioner of the Year. Additionally, BTI Consulting Group named him to its 2017 Client Service All-Stars list as an MVP.
New York Law Journal’s 2018 Distinguished Leaders will be honored on October 10 at the New York Legal Awards at Tribeca 360° in New York City.
