Outlook for Technology Companies and
Investors in the New Administration
On January 20, 2017, a new presidential administration begins. Sweeping changes across many federal government policies and initiatives have been predicted, many of which, if enacted, will affect companies in the technology, digital media, internet, telecom, wireless and financial industries.
Please join Cooley on Tuesday, January 17 for a casual conversation with Robert M. McDowell, formerly an FCC commissioner and now a partner and the co-leader of Cooley's global communications practice. Rob has worked formally and informally on presidential transitions on a bipartisan basis, including in his role as commissioner during the Obama transition in 2009. He will be joined by Shalini Ramachandran, reporter for The Wall Street Journal's Media and Marketing Bureau. Rob and Shalini will discuss:
- the principal players on the Trump transition team and other nominees;
- the incoming regulatory and legislative agenda; and,
- the changes in the composition of the FCC / FTC and the potential implications for critical issues such as net neutrality, internet privacy, the set-top-box market and TMT merger review.
After the discussion, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions.
