Samuel Coates, Partner

Samuel S. Coates has a corporate law practice with an emphasis in the representation of emerging technology and life science companies.

Mr. Coates has experience structuring and negotiating spin-outs, joint ventures and other strategic collaborations as well as mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Coates also has extensive experience with venture capital investments and has represented both companies and investors in numerous equity offerings, both public and private.

  • Acquisition of AlgoRX by Anesiva (Nasdaq: ANSV)

Mr. Coates is a partner in the Cooley Business department in the Palo Alto office. Mr. Coates is a frequent speaker on various corporate law and venture capital related subjects.

He received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1999. He received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. Coates is a member of the State Bar of California.
