Ron Lemieux is a partner in the Intellectual Property practice group and a member of Cooley's Litigation department. He joined Cooley in 2010 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
Mr. Lemieux has served as lead counsel in more than 100 IP cases, many involving applications for preliminary injunctive relief, and has tried more than 15 cases to verdict in courtrooms nationwide. He represents clients in patent, technology, trademark, trade dress, unfair competition and other complex business matters in both state and federal courts, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations. Mr. Lemieux has handled matters involving hardware, software, plant variety and pharmaceutical patents, technical, financial and marketing-related trade secrets, semiconductor manufacturing processes, software development, integrated circuit designs, agricultural products, consumer electronics, video games, employee raiding and trademark and trade dress disputes.

Mr. Lemieux received his J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1985, where he was the Executive Articles Editor of Comment, The Hastings Journal of Communications and Entertainment Law and a 1066 Foundation Scholar. He received an A.B. degree in Political Science and Communications from Stanford University in 1981.
Mr. Lemieux was selected in 2009 to be a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society recognizing the top 5% of litigation attorneys nationwide. In the 2011 Edition of Chambers Global, Mr. Lemieux is recognized in the USA section for his "strong expertise in trans-border IP work, particularly involving Asia" and also in the Asia-Pacific section for Taiwan on Foreign Legal Advice as "a very strong partner." In 2010, Mr. Lemieux was cited by Chambers Asia for Intellectual Property: Foreign Legal Advice in Taiwan and in 2007, he was recognized as a "leading litigator across a number of patent areas, particularly the high-tech sectors emanating from Silicon Valley" by The Legal 500. In addition, Mr. Lemieux was one of only 78 attorneys nationwide selected in 2001 as a BTI "Client Service All-Star" by General Counsels of the Fortune 1000. Mr. Lemieux serves as an Early Neutral Evaluator for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and is a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property Sections of the State Bar of California, the Japan Society of Northern California and the World Affairs Council of Northern California. He previously served as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County, California. He is also a former Instructor of Legal Research and Writing at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
