Rusty Brewer is an associate in the Clean Energy & Technologies Group and is resident in the Washington, DC office.
Rusty focuses his practice on the renewable energy sector, and has extensive experience with project acquisitions and development and project finance transactions, as well as cross-border transactions and investments (including projects structured around CERs generated pursuant to the Kyoto protocol). He primarily represents development companies who develop and construct wind, solar and biomass projects throughout the United States.
Representative Transactions include:
- Counsel to multiple major U.S. wind energy developers in the acquisition of 2000-plus MWs of wind energy turbines.
- Counsel to multiple major U.S. wind and solar energy developers for the acquisition and dispensation of development rights.
- Counsel to multiple wind and solar energy developers for the negotiation of power purchase agreements.
- Counsel to international biogas developer in its operations and development, including project structuring.
- Counsel to large solar energy developer in its operations, including project structuring, leases and power purchase agreements.
- Counsel to international investment fund with respect to the development of renewable energy projects and the purchase and sale of carbon emission reduction credits.
Rusty received his J.D., in 2004 from the Georgetown University Law Center where he was a member of The Tax Lawyer. He received his B.S. in economics from The University of Texas at Austin in 1999 where he graduated with honors. Mr. Brewer serves as adjunct professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University where he teaches a course on project finance.
