James C. Kitch is senior counsel in the Cooley Business department, resident in the Palo Alto office.
Since joining the Firm in 1973, Mr. Kitch has specialized in counseling emerging, high technology companies. He has extensive experience with venture capital financings, corporate partnering and other strategic commercial and/or intellectual property transactions, mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Kitch was a law clerk for the Hon. John Paul Stevens, U.S. Court of Appeals, from 1972 to 1973. He attended Stanford Law School, where he received a J.D. in 1972 and was a note editor for the Stanford Law Review from 1971-1972. He graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1969 with an A.B. degree.
Mr. Kitch has participated in a number of programs and publications addressing legal topics of interest to technology companies and has also served as a member of the Committee on Corporations of the business law section of the State Bar of California. He has also served as corporate secretary and/or a director for a number of private and public companies.
