Kevin C. Chen is an associate in the Emerging Companies practice group and a member of Cooley's Business department. He joined the Firm in 2008 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
Mr. Chen has a corporate and securities practice, focusing on emerging growth companies and venture capital firms. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, public offerings, debt transactions, corporate partnerships, and general corporate counseling. He represents companies in a wide range of industries, including biotechnology, medical device, software, internet, communications and clean technology.
Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Chen was an associate at Heller Ehrman LLP, practicing corporate and securities law.
Mr. Chen earned a J.D. in 2005 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he was a member of the UCLA Journal of Law and Technology. Mr. Chen graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University in 2000.
Prior to law school, Mr. Chen worked at Venture Law Group as an R&D business analyst.
Mr. Chen is a member of the State Bar of California.
