John Kheit is a partner in Cooley's Litigation Department and is a member of the Patent Portfolio Development & Asset Creation and Intellectual Property Litigation practice groups. He joined Cooley in 2012 and is resident in the New York office.
Mr. Kheit's practice focuses on representing a variety of technology-focused companies in complex litigation, patent and licensing matters in industries including: biomedical, communications, computer, and financial service technologies. He is active in various computer, mobile, and software sectors and has experience with communication, eCommerce, microprocessor, network, payment system, wireless, and other leading edge technologies.
Mr. Kheit has been involved with various US and international settlement negotiations and litigation matters involving Internet and commerce-related patents. In addition to patenting pure software technologies, that include data-structures, digital rights management, financial instruments, graphical user interfaces, peer-to-peer networking, etc., he also is experienced in technology transfers and transactional licensing.
Mr. Kheit's work experience spans high-technology, corporate, and academic arenas. He was involved with the technical development of software at companies such as NeXT Computer, as well as working with companies such as Time Warner. In addition, he taught at the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Harvard University and the University of Toledo Law School. Prior to joining Cooley, Mr. Kheit was a partner and chair of the Mobile Technology practice at Chadbourne & Parke LLP.
Mr. Kheit attended Franklin Pierce Law Center where he received his LLM in Intellectual Property. He received his JD from New York Law School and has both his MBA and BA in Computer Science from Rutgers.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
