Barry Graynor, Special Counsel

Barry A. Graynor is special counsel to Cooley and is a member of the Business department. Resident in the San Francisco office, he has been with the Firm since September 1997 and practices with the Credit Finance group.

Mr. Graynor's practice has largely focused on secured lending and equipment leasing transactions, with an emphasis in the financing of shipping containers. He has handled a wide variety of transactions, including secured loans, operating and capital leases, and lease/management programs.

Mr. Graynor was selected for the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in the area of equipment finance law .

Mr. Graynor obtained a law degree in 1979 from Harvard Law School, where he graduated cum laude. He received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from UCLA, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1975.

Mr. Graynor was admitted to the California bar in 1979. He is a former member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association Legal Committee and has served as a member of the Uniform Commercial Code Committee of the Business Law Section (State Bar of California) and as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Law, where he taught a class on corporate finance for three semesters. He is the author of several works, including a chapter on "Remedies" included in Drafting Business Contracts; Techniques & Forms, published by the Continuing Education of the Bar.  He is formerly a Chair of the American Bar Association Subcommittee on Equipment Leasing.
