Daniel W. Frank is a partner in the Cooley Godward Kronish Business department. He is resident in the San Francisco office and has been with the Firm since 1982 and is part of the Venture Capital practice group.
Mr. Frank's practice is concentrated in the formation and representation of private equity investment funds, including venture capital funds, buy-out funds, hedge funds and fund of funds. He has formed and advised a substantial number of international funds with investment activities throughout Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Europe. Mr. Frank also counsels a select group of investors in connection with their investments in private equity funds. He also has extensive experience in advising individuals in connection with their admissions to, or departures from, private equity management teams.
Mr. Frank attended Georgetown University Law Center, where he received a J.D., magna cum laude, in 1982. In 1979, he earned an M.S. in accounting, with a specialty in taxation, from Oklahoma State University. He received a B.B.A., magna cum laude, with honors in accounting, in 1978 from Sam Houston State University and was a member of Alpha Chi.
Mr. Frank has also written for the Venture Capital Journal and is a regular speaker at private equity conferences. He has been listed for a number of years in The Best Lawyers in America and in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.
Mr. Frank is a certified public accountant and is a member of the State Bar of California as well as the American and California Bar Associations.
