David Warren, Partner

David M. Warren is a partner in the Estate Planning and Personal Representation practice group in the Business department. He is Co-Chair of the New York Estate Planning and Personal Representation group.  Mr. Warren joined Kronish Lieb Weiner & Hellman LLP in 1995, which was merged into Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in 2006. He is resident in the New York office.

He has practiced trusts and estates law more than 30 years, and his practice embraces all aspects of estate planning and estate administration, with an emphasis on the development of sophisticated plans for individuals with significant wealth.

Mr. Warren's clients include entrepreneurs, real estate developers, top executives at Fortune 500 companies, Hollywood celebrities, hedge fund managers, and other professionals in the financial services industry.  He also represents families whose wealth was acquired generations ago, and the financial institutions that assist them in the management of their assets.

Mr. Warren has extensive experience in dealing with contested matters in the New York Surrogate's Courts and other forums.  He is also an experienced practitioner before the Internal Revenue Service in the defense of estate and gift tax audits and related matters.  Providing guidance and imaginative ideas to clients with philanthropic goals is also a central feature of Mr. Warren's practice.

Mr. Warren received his JD in 1975 from New York University School of Law.  He attended Columbia College, receiving his BA in philosophy in 1970. 

Mr. Warren is an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law, where he has taught courses in estate planning and the basic law of decedents' estates.  He has also lectured widely to professional and non-professional audiences on trusts and estates issues.  He is the President of the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged, one of the largest service agencies in the UJA/Federation network of philanthropic organizations.

He was admitted to practice in the State of New York in 1976, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
