Brad Waugh, Associate

Brad Waugh is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice group and a member of the Firm's Litigation department.  He joined the Firm in 2009 and is resident in the Palo Alto office. 

Mr. Waugh practices complex commercial litigation, primarily patent infringement and licensing.  His work includes all aspects of litigation, from pre-filing investigations through appeal.  Brad's technical expertise is in electronics and computers, and his legal matters have covered wireless communications, video compression, video graphics, Global Positioning System (GPS), microprocessors, personal computers, video games, computer memory, computer networking, enterprise software, web servers, and implantable medical devices. 

In addition to his primary practice, Mr. Waugh has taught patent litigation at Stanford Law School and represented a variety of pro bono clients in matters ranging from employment and immigration hearings to patent reexamination. 

Before law school, Mr. Waugh worked as a radio frequency engineer for a subsidiary of Verizon Wireless, and at Raytheon E-Systems developing satellite communications systems.  

Mr. Waugh received a J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as editor for the Stanford Technology Law Review.  He also holds a Master of Electrical Engineering from Rice University and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology, where he graduated with highest honor.  His engineering studies focused on digital communications, digital signal processing, and computer architecture. 

Mr. Waugh is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, U.S. Distrcit Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
