Alison Newman is a partner in the Cooley Godward Kronish Business department and practices in the area of general corporate and securities law. She joined Kronish Lieb Weiner & Hellman LLP in 1999, which was merged into Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in 2006. She is resident in the New York office.
Ms. Newman represents a diverse client base comprised of public and private companies, investment banks, venture capital firms and high net worth individuals. Throughout her career she has represented clients in connection with public offerings and private placements of securities, venture capital investments, private equity investments and mergers and acquisitions. She has extensive experience representing issuers and underwriters in public offerings for companies engaged in a number of industries, including high-technology, biotechnology, electronics, homeland security and the Internet. Prior to joining Kronish Lieb, Ms. Newman was a partner at Bachner Tally Polevy & Misher, where she practiced from 1991 through 1999.
Ms. Newman's counsel is often sought by companies seeking to access venture capital and other financing alternatives. Ms. Newman has regularly acted as counsel to public and privately held companies advising them on compliance with securities laws and Sarbanes Oxley and in connection with their general and transactional matters. She is also regularly engaged by buyers, sellers and financial advisors in a variety of public and private business combinations.
Ms. Newman received her J.D. in 1986 from New York University School of Law. She received her B.A. cum laude in 1983 from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Newman is admitted to practice before the New York State Bar.
