Amy Hallman Rice is an associate in Cooley's Business department. She is resident in the San Diego office and rejoined the Firm in 2003, having practiced in the Firm's San Francisco office from 1988 to 1992.
Ms. Hallman Rice has a general corporate transactional practice. She represents both privately-held and public companies in a wide range of transactions. She also has more than 16 years of experience in bankruptcy and insolvency law.
Prior to rejoining Cooley, Ms. Hallman Rice practiced with Dorsey & Whitney LLP's commercial and banking/bankruptcy practice group in Minneapolis, Minnesota for more than 9 years, and taught legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1992-1993.
Ms. Hallman Rice obtained her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988, where she was the winner of the multi-round William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition. Ms. Hallman Rice completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego in 1984, earning a B.A., magna cum laude, in Literature/Writing.
Ms. Hallman Rice is admitted to practice before all California and Minnesota state courts, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth and Ninth Circuits, the U.S. District Court, Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California and the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota. She is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.
